12 Days of Zentangle ® Day 12!

Today represents the final day of our Zentangle ® Project Pack 04. If you’ve been following along with us, your spinner is almost finished! Today we had the final lesson with Molly Hollibaugh and Martha Huggins, Rick and Maria’s daughters. The tangles today were again, favorites. Tipple, Zinger, Vega, Verdigogh and Rixty! Upon finishing my tangling, I used my Derwent Inktense Pencils to watercolor the 4 corners, added more to the inner rings and used my Sakura Pen-Touch in gold to finish off the outer ring. I’m still undecided about tangling the corners or letting the color stand alone. Tomorrow is to be a celebration and I’m assuming we’ll be adding the spinners. Once again, if you don’t have the project pack, I’ve seen people use tiles, or larger squares and drawn in the circles. One CZT, Marguerite Samama, put 4 tiles together and did it that way. You can see all kinds of examples on Zentangle ® Mosaic App, just search #PP04. You can do the same on Facebook. I love that although we are doing the same lessons and tangles, the results from each artist are quite different. I hope you have enjoyed this journey with me and have allowed this to give you a few minutes of tangled bliss each day! Here’s my completed Spinner and the link to today’s lesson. Enjoy!

12 Days of Zentangle ® Day 11

Our 12 Days of Zentangle ® Project is almost finished! One day left, so on today’s section we once again had a lesson from Maria Thomas, one of the founders of the Zentangle ® Method. Each day has been a peaceful island in the storm of my life. I’ve appreciated each one, loved the original tangles and basked in the ever growing beautiful spinner. I honestly can’t wait to use it for teaching a class! Since we have just one more day, after finishing today’s wedge, I added some watercolor to the middle circle. I haven’t decided what I’ll do with the corners yet but we will see tomorrow. Today’s lesson included Knightsbridge, Scena, Purk and Betweed. All of these are favorites. Here’s my day 11 progress and Maria’s video link. Thanks to Maria for bringing such love and positivity to this method that has changed me fundamentally!

12 Days of Zentangle ® Day 9

Hello everyone! We are fast approaching the end of our wonderful 12 Days of Zentangle ® Project! Today is day 9 and we are treated to another lesson from Zentangle Founder Rick Roberts. If you’ve never seen Rick tangle, it is definitely the worth your time! Rick’s style is definitely different from Maria’s. He has a slow, deliberate way of tangling that has impacted the way I approach several patterns. Today we did hollibaugh, cubine, xyg, and arukas. Rick is the king of straight line tangles! I hope you enjoy the ride! Here’s my spinner with the Zentangle youtube video!

Diva Challenge 379 and 12 Days of Zentangle Day 8

Hello everyone! It’s been a very busy Monday but I was able to finish all my projects! Yay ME! First I want to share my Diva Challenge tile for this week. The Diva has challenged us to create a holiday tile and if you’d like to follow along, here’s the link for the Diva’s challenge. I’ve been playing around with Eni Oken’s lesson on the tangle Peanuckle by Molly Hollibaugh. Peanuckle can be a tough tangle to master and I was one who struggled with it. Then I watched Eni Oken’s video lesson by the same name and it all fell into place. Like so many lessons, Eni put her own spin on things and suddenly the tangle just clicked for me. Here’s where you can find Eni’s lesson on Peanuckle. I recently watched the lesson again and took another stab at the project. Here’s my sketch pad version.

I posted this in Eni Oken’s Art Club for comments and someone suggested it was ribbons and Pine Cones. That stuck in my head and I thought I would do a color version. When the Diva asked for holiday tiles this week, it seemed the perfect solution. Here’s my Diva Challenge tile number 379!

Lastly, I want to share todays 12 Days of Zentangle videos with my spinner progress! Today’s lesson was given by the lovely Julie Willand, an important member of the Zentangle HQ family. We used the tangles Crescent Moon, Bales, Shattuck, Marasu, and Indy Rella. All of these tangles are well known and very enjoyable to use. Here’s my Spinner progress from today along with the YouTube video link. Enjoy and I’ll see you all tomorrow!

12 Days of Zentangle ® Days 6 and 7

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying your weekend! I’ve been looking forward to my daily Zentangle emails for project pack 04! Today I am posting day 6 and 7. It’s amazing how many original tangles I’ve never used before. Let’s see if I can list the tangles we used for the last 2 days! Day 6 Molly and Martha showed us Swarm, Poke Root, Bronx Cheer, Huggins, and Pepper. Day 7 Rick showed Printemps, Rain, Avreal, and Fracas. 5 of these tangles were new to me! This project has been awesome for increasing my tangle knowledge! Here’s my progress picture for the Spinner and links for the Zentangle ® videos for the last 2 days. I hope you are enjoying them!
