Zentangle ®️ Project Pack 05 with IAST 287

Welcome to The Tireless Tangler everyone! This has been an incredibly busy week with the continuation of my 100 days of Zentangle project (we’re up to day 13 with daily pattern videos), the start of the Zentangle ® Project Pack 05, and It’s a String Thing challenge 287! I’m exhausted just listing it all! It has been so gratifying to have so many artists join the project! I hope you all have seen some of the other’s work on Facebook and Instagram! Look for the hashtag #100daysofzentangle! You’ll find the link for today’s video below. Here’s my progress to day 12!

This week’s It’s a String Thing challenge was Easter themed and used an egg shaped string and 3 great tangles. Hemp by CZT, Sandy Steen Bartholomew , Queen B by CZT, Helen Williams, Henna Drum by CZT, Jane MacKugler. I loved playing with all 3 tangles and though the outcome was darker than I intended, it’s still a fun tile! You can join the It’s a String Thing challenge at Adele Bruno’s blog Tickled to Tangle!

Lastly, this week brought the start of Zentangle ® Project Pack 05. This project centers around decorative matting techniques for keepsakes and photos. The first 2 days and the prep video were released this weekend, leaving us with lots of creative pursuits with which to immerse ourselves. I’ve linked the first 3 videos here for you! You absolutely don’t need the project pack to participate! Good quality cardstock or hot press watercolor paper will work as well.

I hope you enjoy these videos! There is nothing like learning from Rick and Maria!

Thanks for your continued support everyone! It means more than you can imagine! 💜

It’s a String Thing | Shamrock Knot Tutorial

Hi everyone! Welcome to The Tireless Tangler! It’s been a busy week. I’ve been working hard on my weekly video tutorial featuring a pretty lucky Shamrock knot! This lovely, intricate knot is easy to draw and fits nicely on a Zentangle ® Apprentice tile. it would help a lot if you guys would check it out, and like, comment and tag me with your art! So many of you guys tried last week’s knot and that was incredible! Thank you all! 💜

Next up, it’s a String Thing challenge last week. You all know I’ve been completing tiles but I have been falling asleep while writing my post on Saturday night and then feeling bad for not submitting them on time or worse, not submitting them at all! Well, this week I’m biting the bullet and writing Adele Bruno at Tickledtotangle.blogspot.com to apologize and offer my tiles at their usual late time with her usual option to leave them out! Poor Adele!

I wanted to share this week’s string with you before the tiles and tell you I redid this tile 3 times and still felt I was missing something. Finally, I finished with 2 and said done.

Here’s the string this week!

String 283 is by Adele Bruno and is from her blog post “It’s a String Thing 283

The tangles used this week were

Sh*rock by Diane Lachance, CZT

Bumpadox by Carole Ohl, CZT

Sláinte by Kate McIlreavy

This turned out to be a true challenge for me! Bumpadox (a version of Paradox) and Sláinte are very much square grid type tangles, and Sh*rock is organic. I thought it would be pretty straight forward. Each time I added the Sh*rock it, together with the grids, were just too much. Now that I look back, the answer was “negative space”. Anyway, here are two of my 3 tries. Negative space…something to keep in mind!

Remember, Friday is a new knot video! This week we will be doing a border knot pattern! See you soon!

Diva Challenge 385 💜

Hi everyone and welcome to The Tireless Tangler! My personal life has continued to keep me focused elsewhere but thankfully I’ve been creating a lot! You might have noticed this website looks different and I’m pretty pleased with the new banner! But before all else, I want to thank once again, digital artist and wonderful friend Christel Foncke for allowing me the use of this lovely art over the last year on this site and all my other social media profiles. It gave me so much confidence to have this site looking great! Thank you so much Christel!

So for my first post in awhile, here is Diva Challenge 385 dedicated to Valentine’s Day. The Diva challenged us to choose something from the day to be mindful of while tangling. I love the lace paper hearts and was working on a Ratoon tile for a tutorial video this week. (Ratoon is one of the newest tangles to come out of Zentangle ® HQ). I was adding auras strangely reminiscent of lace and decided to use the tile for the pearls and the lacy look.

The diva challenge a week or 2 ago was to use the Tangle Ratoon. I intended to do a tutorial right away because I saw the celtic knot potential in this lovely Tangle. I am about a week late but here is the art from the video followed by the video link. As always, I’d love your feedback!

Diva Challenge 359

This week’s challenge from CZT, Laura Harms, was to use our fingers as a guide for the string. You can join in at the Diva’s website, iamthedivaczt.com.

I actually thought this was going to be an easy challenge but for some strange reason, I couldn’t find just the “right” tangles. I drew the string 3 times and I’ll show you 2 of them. I felt pretty “meh” about them, but finished anyway. Here they are.

Lastly, I have a new step-out video for my first pattern, Apcorg. It includes a digitally drawn step-out and a hand drawn example of Apcorg in a 4 square setup, perfect for a focal point. I hope you enjoy!

Diva Challenge: How to Draw the Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day String

Hi everyone and welcome back to The Tireless Tangler! Today’s post includes a video on how to draw this week’s Moebius string for the Diva’s 348th Challenge Tile. Internet connection problems have plagued me for over a month now which has put me way behind on my Artist Focus posts and I’m dying to share this one with you but unfortunately, we will have to wait for the video upload! 😫

In the meantime, we are back with this week’s Diva Challenge, #348. Every year this time we celebrate Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day in honor of Laura’s little boy, Artoo, who was diagnosed with Moebius Syndrome at birth. Moebius is a disorder of the nerves that frequently affects the face. It is not a disease! I think that Artoo is correct when he says he’s very smart! Let’s support Artoo and others with Moebius! Get informed! This will be my 3rd try to participate. I did them the last 2 years but each time struggled to draw the string. With no printer and fitting it on a tile, I never came up with anything I wanted to publish. Of course, a lot of that was my lack of courage! This year, with new confidence running through me, I made a video on a simple way to draw the string free hand. Camera issues are being solved! Each video is a learning process and I’m hopeful the quality will improve over time!

Here is the YouTube video along with my tile for this week! I’m hopeful this will help someone out and if not you can smile at my silliness! You will find a donation link for the Moebius Syndrome Foundation in the video and links below! It’s a worthy cause so please give generously! As always, please remember to subscribe!

Here’s my tile!
